Data is being produced at dizzying rates, e.g., for genomics, for very high-resolution video formats, and from a multitude of IoT sensors. IBM Cloud Object Storage, built on Cleversafe technology, offers high capacity, cost effective storage for this data. We have developed Stocator, a high-performance connector between analytics engines and object stores, to enable Apache Spark, the leading big data analytics processing engine to derive value from this data. In this session, we will present a quick primer on Spark, IBM Cloud Object Storage, and Stocator, discuss several big data use cases, e.g., from IoT and Retail Analytics, and show initial performance results for Spark analytics over data in IBM Cloud Object Storage.
Nate Klaphake is the Global Alliances Architect for IBM’s COS, covering all ISV relationships across all verticals as well has hardware partnerships worldwide. Primary responsibilities include crafting complete technical alignment between organizations as well as building lasting relationships for long term go to market initiatives.
