IT solutions that support commercial credit approval processes typically offer a middle office suite based on a Relational Database (RDB) that can be connected to a variety of services such as Customer Relationship Management (CRM) or Business Intelligence (BI) applications.
Extending middle office tools with the capability of linking additional data sources requires adapting the relational data scheme with an interface that matches the format of the new data source.
We improved a middle office mortgage management system with the capability of securely accessing, processing and interlinking several sources of financial information, including information provided as web service by the Dutch offices of the land registry, the national tax, and social security authorities.
The talk will:
- Explain how we designed a hybrid ontology for achieving data source interlinking at the semantic level, using the FIBO SKOS vocabulary along with a OWL ontology of the mortgage application process.
- Present the first results of enhancing ATvance, a mortgage management system used by three of the biggest loan providers in the Netherlands, with data sources semantic integration capabilities
- Offer guidelines for generalizing our approach to other IT solutions that support banking operations
