Building a data governance organization is not a straight line task, creating an organization with a stable form; rather it is an iterative process that manages a malleable form that must adapt to continuous organizational change. A cross divisional, cross functional enterprise data governance program is affected by mergers and acquisitions, globalization, divestitures, changing business priorities, organizational changes, funding changes, and enterprise program priorities. In order to keep key data a priority, and bring meaningful value to the enterprise, a data governance leader must be able to respond effectively.
